Impact of Bridged Taps on Vdsl Performance Distribution: T1e1.4 Technical Subcommittee Working Group Members Status: for Information

چکیده
This contribution describes some specifics of VDSL performance in the presence of bridged taps. It is shown that the effect of a bridged tap depends on both the length and allocation of the bridged tap due to dominating of FEXT. As a result, bridged taps affect the opposite transmission directions differently and usually the upstream performance is degraded much more regardless of the applied VDSL spectrum plan. It is offered to the Committee as a basis for discussion and is not a binding proposal on the companies involved. Revisiting Bridged Tap and Spectrum Issue for VDSL Performance (99-560)
This paper addresses the issue of robust VDSL transmission in the presence of bridged taps in the local loop. The impact of bridged taps on transmission performance is described and evaluated for various frequency-division duplexing plans. It is shown that using only 4 bands will under several realistic circumstances result in very poor performance. The conclusion is that a robust duplexing pla...

This paper compares the complexity of DMT and QAM VDSL technologies. We argue that the flexibility of the DMT proposal makes it the obvious choice for VDSL. We have investigated what the effects of adding pulse shaping and windowing to a ZipperVDSL system would be. By adding short, pulse-shaped wings to the DMT symbol and accepting the, say, 3 % efficiency loss, the spectral sidelobes of the DMT-symbol are reduced. This provides several attractive features including the following: • The pulse shaping in the transmitter reduces the out of band power...
متن کاملSoft Cancellation via Iterative Decoding to Mitigate the effect of Home-LANs on VDSL (333R2)
Previous contributions [1], [2] have reported on the performance of a maximum-likelihood based joint detection of VDSL signals and Home LAN signals that share the frequency band between 5 and 10 MHz. The methods described were promising in that they show it is possible to mitigate the effect of a Home LAN signal on VDSL almost entirely if a small fraction (3%) of the VDSL band was judiciously s...
